Bear kaomoji — hugs & pandas

Bear kaomoji are text bears such as ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ, where the ears ʕ and ʔ are phonetic letters and the snout ᴥ is LATIN LETTER AIN. Hugging, sleepy and panda bears all work as plain text in a bio, a game name or a message. Copy any of them with one tap.

Where these are accepted

Tested per field — the honest version
App / field Decoration Limit Last tested What actually happens
TikTok username (@handle) Rejected / stripped 2–24 characters August 2026 Letters, numbers, underscore and dot only, and it cannot start or end with a dot. Decorated characters are rejected outright.
TikTok display name Accepted No decoration limit found August 2026 Accepts symbols, kaomoji and decorated combos. This is the field every "TikTok font" guide actually means.
Instagram bio & name Accepted Both fields accept decoration August 2026 Bio and display name both take decorated characters. The @username does not.
Game display names (Roblox, Free Fire) Rejected / stripped Emoji stripped; text marks usually pass Not tested in-game Colour emoji are stripped from most in-game name fields, while plain marks — ⋆ ★ 𐙚 ୨୧ ✧ — usually survive. Each game runs its own private filter and changes it without notice, so use the rename preview before you confirm.
Discord, Telegram, WhatsApp Accepted Long combining stacks may be trimmed August 2026 Display names and messages accept the full range. Very long combining stacks may be trimmed in narrow layouts.

Platform filters are undocumented and change without notice, so we re-test rather than copy forward — see how we curate and verify.

Bear kaomoji use the round ears ʕ ʔ and the snout ᴥ to build a friendly bear face. Swap the eyes and mouth to make it sleepy, shy or excited.

As plain text they paste into a name, a bio or a message with no font needed.

How to use bear kaomoji

  • Names & bios: a small ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ beside the name reads friendly.
  • Messages: end a line with a bear for a soft tone.
  • Captions: a sleepy bear stands in for a whole mood.
  • Comments: a hugging bear says thanks without words.
The ears ʕ ʔ carry the bear; keep them and change only the eyes and mouth.

ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ is built from phonetics letters

The bear face is three characters from the International Phonetic Alphabet and its Unicode neighbours — symbols linguists use to write down sounds. The ears are pharyngeal consonants and the snout is a letter used for a sound in Semitic languages.

SymbolCode pointWhat it really is
U+0295Latin letter pharyngeal voiced fricative — the left ear
U+1D25Latin letter ain — the snout
U+0294Latin letter glottal stop — the right ear
U+0296Latin letter inverted glottal stop — an alternative ear
U+1D54Modifier letter small top half o — a closed eye

Because they are letters rather than pictures, the whole bear survives a display name where 🐻 would be stripped.

Sad bear kaomoji ʕ´• ᴥ•̥`ʔ

ʕ´• ᴥ•̥`ʔ is a sad bear: the small ring under one eye, COMBINING RING BELOW (U+0325), is a tear. The raised brows ´ and ` turn the plain ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ into a worried face, and stacking more rings, as in ʕ ´•̥̥̥ ᴥ•̥̥̥`ʔ, makes the bear cry harder. For teary faces without bear ears, open sad and crying kaomoji.

ʕ´• ᴥ•̥`ʔ — the same bear with hidden characters

The version ʕ´• ᴥ•̥`ʔ looks identical to ʕ´• ᴥ•̥`ʔ but has an invisible WORD JOINER (U+2060) between every character. Word joiners stop a face from breaking across two lines, so some kaomoji lists add them. They are harmless in a message, but each one counts as a character, which matters in a short name field.

How to type ʕ ᴥ ʔ

No keyboard has a bear key, so the quickest way to type ʕ ᴥ ʔ is to copy it once and save it as a text shortcut. The bear is three letters: ʕ (U+0295), ᴥ (U+1D25) and ʔ (U+0294). On a computer you can also enter each one by its code point.

DeviceHow to type the bear
iPhone, iPadSettings › General › Keyboard › Text Replacement › +. Paste ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ as the phrase and pick a shortcut such as bearr.
Android (Gboard)Gboard settings › Dictionary › Personal dictionary › your language › +. Paste the bear and add a shortcut.
Windows (Microsoft Word)Type 0295 and press Alt+X for ʕ, 1D25 then Alt+X for ᴥ, 0294 then Alt+X for ʔ.
MacAdd the Unicode Hex Input keyboard under System Settings › Keyboard › Input Sources, then hold Option and type 0295, 1D25 and 0294.

ʕ ᴥ ʔ for an Instagram bio

ʕ ᴥ ʔ pastes straight into an Instagram bio or display name because it is plain text, not a picture. An Instagram bio holds 150 characters, so a short bear strip leaves room for everything else; the @username does not accept it. Copy a strip and swap the words for your own.

🐻🧺 bear and basket for names

🐻🧺 pairs the bear face emoji (U+1F43B) with the basket emoji (U+1F9FA, added in Emoji 11.0 in 2018) to make a picnic bear. It is a popular display-name decoration: put your name after it, or use one of the frames below. Colour emoji are often stripped from game name fields, so for a game tag use the text bear ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ instead.

More picnic, bow and flower combos are across SoShareIT Emojis, and every cute text face is grouped under kawaii symbols.

Frequently asked questions
What makes a bear face a bear? The rounded brackets ʕ ʔ for ears and the snout ᴥ. Everything else is expression.
Do they render everywhere? The core marks are widely supported; simpler ASCII versions are the safest on old devices.
How do I type ʕ ᴥ ʔ on my phone?Copy it once, then save it as a shortcut: Text Replacement on iPhone, or the personal dictionary in Gboard on Android. Typing the shortcut then inserts the whole bear.
What does ʕ´• ᴥ•̥`ʔ mean?It is a sad or teary bear. The ring under one eye is a tear, and the slanted brows make the face look worried.
Why does my copied bear contain invisible characters? Some lists put a word joiner (U+2060) between each character so the face never splits across lines. It looks the same, but each joiner counts as a character in a name field.
